Jared Allen's retirement plan was different than any other. The former All-Pro NFL defensive lineman started a bull riding team, providing bulls to PBR and CBR promotions.

Allen was used to being one of the most feared men in the quarterback's eyes during his prime, but now his bulls are some of the most intimidating in all of the riding world.

His bulls Air Time and Magic Train are ranked No. 3 and 10, respectively in PBR's rankings. This year Jared Allen's Pro Bull Team is vying for its first-ever World Championship.

The aptly-named Air Time puts any NFL player's vertical numbers to shame and this season the 5-year-old bull is Allen's best shot at the world title. So far this season Air Time has a 100 percent buck-off rate, knocking its riders off in an average of 2.26 seconds

"It's his maturity and his intelligence," Allen's stock director Matt Scharping said in July to PBR.com. "I think he is just getting very smart. Air Time loves the game and has developed a love for the game, but he is so competitive. When a bull realizes this is my job, this is what I do, I think it gives them a touch of arrogance."

Air Time finished third in 2015 and this season he trails the leading bull, Sweet Pro's Bruiser, who's bucked 12 riders compared to Air Time's eight.

Allen's No. 10 ranked Magic Train could be his team's diamond in rough. The bovine caught some attention this year, starting the season 7-0.

At the beginning of October, however, Magic Train sits at 8-1 and is far behind the points leaders to contend for the championship. But that's not stopping Allen's team from believing the can eventually get two world championship contenders in their stable.

"That was one of my goals at the start of the year. To have two bulls in the race," Scharping said. "That is just showing growth in the animal. Everyone gets caught up in the bull competition. Well, you really have to look at your animal's health. What is he showing you? Is he developing? Is he maturing? You have to pay attention for that. [Magic Train] is really showing me a lot of development and a lot of maturity."
