What did Garrett Smith, Hunter Cure, and Zeke Thurston ask for Christmas from Santa this year? See what gifts they're hoping are under the tree!

'Dear Santa, We've Been Good,' Sincerely, Cowboys

Did I hear sleigh bells ringing? Or was that Sage Kimzey’s bull rope jingling all the way to a 90-point ride?

Was that Santa chasing a reindeer? Or Jeremy Buhler and his majestic beard running down the arena after a corriente roping steer?

We caught up with some of professional rodeo’s top competitors and representatives to get down to the bottom of what they were hoping Santa had in his sleigh when he delivered presents to all the good girls and boys last night. They put pen to paper — or fingers to keyboard — and wrote a letter to Santa to tell him exactly what they were hoping to see under the tree this year.

Dear Santa,

“Well I asked Santa for a nice set of golf clubs and a golf coach so I can have a career that doesn’t hurt as bad, to be honest! Would be nice to grow old and not be crippled.”

- Garrett Smith, 2017 Canadian champion bull rider, two-time NFR qualifier

“1. Another strong and fast AQHA horse, because I’ve asked for one every year since I was 5, and Santa might find it suspicious if it wasn’t on my list this year! 2. To have non-embarrassing Christmas pajamas because my family is big on tradition, and until you’re married you have to wear matching pajamas . . . and last year they were onesies!”

- Keri Sheffield, Miss Rodeo America 2018

“Since he can’t bring me a two-inch rain or any more hair on top of my head, I guess I should ask for a big nerf gun. That way I can shoot back at my children who have been shooting at me all week long.”

- Hunter Cure, two-time world champion steer wrestler

"I would like a rope bag full of kids Classic ropes for Stockton because he won't ever set a rope down and he's wearing mine out."

- Dustin Bird, five-time NFR qualifier, two-time Canadian champion team roper

“As a Canadian kid who hasn’t skied since grade four, I would really appreciate some skiing lessons to help prepare me for the Cowboy Downhill Ski Race in Denver so I don’t embarrass myself too bad. Also my dad is pressuring me to ask for a rope horse that understands the left lead only. Thank you, Santa.”

- Brittney Chomistek, Miss Rodeo Canada 2018

“I would like to ask Santa for driving lessons and a new back windshield for my pickup truck, because I found out I’m not as good of a driver as I thought I was.”

- Zeke Thurston, 2016 world champion saddle bronc rider, three-time Calgary Stampede saddle bronc champion, and the cowboy that jack-knifed his trailer while backing up on ice the other day.

Now there is only one question left to ask, were they good or bad this year?

Merry Christmas from FloRodeo!
