How To Watch The 2019 Ponoka Stampede

Canada’s largest CPRA/PRCA rodeo is upon us! Read all the details you need to know on how to watch the 2019 Ponoka Stampede.

Schedule:

The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association rodeo action runs June 25 to July 1 (click HERE to see the full schedule), and the World Professional Chuckwagon Association races run June 26 to July 1 (click HERE to see the full schedule).

Rodeo Format:

The bareback riders, saddle bronc riders, bull riders, and barrel racers all compete once in the long round that is spread from June 25 to 31. The timed event competitors (excluding the barrel racing) compete in two full long rounds. There is a slack each morning at 9:30AM that is considered “round one”, and each performance from June 25 to 31 makes up “round two”.

From there, the top 12 move on to compete in the short round at 1:00PM on July 1, and then the top four from the showdown at 6:30PM.

Chuckwagon Format:

The drivers of the WPCA compete each night from June 26 to July 1. Days one through four will have round winners each night, with an aggregate champion being crowned on night four.

Night five is considered the semifinals where all 36 drivers will race, but the top eight drivers in the aggregate after four days compete in the two finals heats of the night to see who will qualify for the dash. The $50,000 Tommy Dorchester Winner-Take-All Dash will take place on July 1 with the top four from the semifinals racing for all the cash!
