8. Kody Dollery Winning Medicine Hat En Route To His First CFR

Smiling Kody Dollery made his way to his first Canadian Finals Rodeo in 2018 thanks in part to this 4.2-second run that earned him the No. 1 spot in Medicine Hat.

7. Neck Rope + Stirrup = MALFUNCTION JUNCTION

We’ve never seen this happen before and haven’t seen it since.

6. "There's No Secret, You Gotta Catch One" - Cory Kidd

Kidd/Anderson At Medicine Hat Stampede

Everyone has a slightly different approach to their mental game when it comes to competition, and when you haven't been doing well, it's easy to let your head continue to keep you down. Some ropers say you have to have a "short memory" when you miss a steer, but Cory Kidd begs to differ.

5. Scott Schiffner ANYTHING

Let’s face it, we were pumped even before Scott Schiffner nodded his head and each and every rodeo in the 2018 season. Last year was the retirement campaign for the winningest bull rider in Canadian history, and it didn’t matter if he was 83 (like this ride at Medicine Hat) or he was 90, we all loved to see him compete one more time.

4. Ty Taypotat’s 87.5-Point Ride On Kesler’s Critical Smile

Ty Taypotat was just having one of those years in 2018 where he could do no wrong. The proof of that was in this 87.5-point ride aboard Kesler’s Critical Smile.

3. Zeke Thurston’s Excitement Over The “Surprise Package” On Its Way

Thurston At Medicine Hat

At the 2018 Medicine Hat Stampede, Zeke Thurston was impatiently waiting on his first child to arrive. Lucy Louise Thurston was born just a couple weeks later and has been hitting the rodeo trail with Zeke and his wife Jayne ever since.

2. Taylor Manning Taking The Lead Over Carman Pozzobon By .002 Seconds

This young spitfire had a friendly rivalry going on with the 2018 National Finals Rodeo average champion Carman Pozzobon all season long. The pair ended up No. 1 and 2 multiple times throughout the tour, flip-flopping from event to event to see which would edge out the other on the clock.

1. Chance Butterfield’s Story Of Resilience

Chance Butterfield At Medicine Hat

Just one year after Chance Butterfield was nearly killed in an accident with his horse and had to undergo emergency surgery, it was great to see the Ponoka steer wrestler back at the Medicine Hat Stampede feeling better than ever.
