He's qualified to compete at the Calgary Stampede for three years now and has finally taken home his first day-win at the "Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth" that Jared Parsonage says is a dream of every Canadian rodeo kid. Parsonage rode C5 Rodeo's High Five for 86.5 points to win the opening day of the rodeo.

She calls herself a "wimp" when it comes to the mud, but Ivy Conrado - who says she tends to turn out if the ground conditions become muddy - made it happen on day one at the Calgary Stampede. Conrado and her nine-year-old mare JLO (KN Fabs Gift of Fame) - who she says has never even loped a circle in the mud before, let alone run at one of the highest-paying rodeos in the world - took the day one victory with their time of 17.57. Conrado will also enjoy an important boost in the WPRA standings with the $5,500 she'll win today to add to her current total that is sitting her in the No. 16 spot.
Two 86-point scores graced the top of the saddle bronc riding leaderboard on day one of the Calgary Stampede. Zeke Thurston - a veteran at Calgary with three wins at the event - earned his aboard Calgary Stampede's Peigan Warrior, while first-timer to the "Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth" Chase Brooks won his aboard C5 Rodeo's Double D.
It's been on his mind every day since he qualified for the Calgary Stampede via a top-five finish at the 2018 Canadian Finals Rodeo, and it shows. Craig Weisgerber made his debut at the Calgary Stampede in the steer wrestling today and walked away with the $5,500 first-place check for the 4.7-second effort.
After admittedly not having the best first-trip to the Calgary Stampede in 2018, tie-down roper Jake Pratt has already started his second trip off on a much better note. Pratt won the opening day of the tie-down roping at Calgary with a time of 8.9 seconds in the mud to earn $5,500.
FloRodeo fans saw a Jake Vold that was unable to finish his ride in the top 12 finals at the Ponoka Stampede last week due to an injured shoulder. This week, fans saw the "old Jake" back in fine form as he spurred his way to a win in the opening day of the Calgary Stampede with an 88-point ride aboard C5 Rodeo's Mushroom Cloud.
