The Ponoka Stampede has a scoreline that is entirely unique to the sport of rodeo. It's a scoreline that Hunter Cure knows well at the rodeo that he told fans in the arena was his favorite rodeo. It's a busy time of year in rodeo, but as Matt Shiozawa said after winning the Finning Pro Tour's Wainwright Stampede, "you never mind going back to a finals". Now that Wainwright has wrapped up, Shiozawa is looking ahead to another important finals - the showdown round at the Ponoka Stampede.

The steer wrestler that has qualified for the Canadian Finals Rodeo more than any other - Curtis Cassidy - lives by the rule: 'I'd Rather Go Down Trying To Win'.
"I was just waiting on him to retire to come up here," the five-time world champion Sage Kimzey joked about the winningest Canadian bull rider of all-time, Scott Schiffner. Kimzey has set his sights on the 2019 Canadian Finals Rodeo qualification and is doing it in the only fashion he knows how - with a vengeance. Kimzey has taken the "W" at a few events in Canada before this weekend, but his biggest so since declaring his Canadian run came this past weekend at the Wainwright Stampede.
