Mason Taylor’s mentor and idol - PBR World Finalist Cody Johnson - joked with Taylor that he couldn’t come back if he didn’t win the 2018 IFYR. Apparently it was motivation enough for the young bull riding talent who won the event with the two highest marked bull rides of the finals at 81.5 each.

After qualifying for the short round in 2017 and not leaving with the title, tie-down roper John Michael Elliott came back to win the International Finals Youth Rodeo in 2018. Elliott’s time of 27.4 on three was fast enough to win the average and earn him a total of $3,213.00 over the week at the world’s richest junior rodeo.

Trey Gallais and Trent Tunke got together at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. Ever since then, they’ve just been waiting for the right draw to show what they can do. After their 4.6-second run at the Strathmore Stampede saw them win the rodeo by more than half a second and earn $3,489.75, we’d say the “right draw” had come along.
“Sometimes it works out that way, and I’m damn glad it did for me today,” said Tanner Milan after winning the steer wrestling at the Strathmore Stampede. His 3.8 second run resulted in a $5,583.60 paycheck - one that could have major implications for the cowboy that is trying to make his third WNFR. He already has the Canadian Finals Rodeo in the bag, but at 19th in the world standings before the weekend, Milan still needs to add some money to his season total in order to compete at the world series of rodeo.
