The International Finals Youth Rodeo is known as the world’s richest youth rodeo with it's $250,000 in prize money. Elle Eagles has qualified for the short round of the IFYR in the goat tying and the barrel racing and thinks that a piece of that purse could do a lot of good for her.
With two rounds complete at the 2018 International Finals Youth Rodeo, Payton Lackey is splitting the No. 1 and 2 spots in the aggregate with a total of 152.5 on two. This Blanco, Texas bareback rider has a great shot to take home the championship with only 9 other competitors that were able to ride two in his event.
Breakaway roper Gannyn Gower made a plan before she completed her runs at the 2018 International Finals Youth Rodeo. She roped her first calf in a time of 2.6 seconds, setting her up for success in round two and putting the pressure on to continue her winning ways. Gower came back with a 2.8 second run, her relief evident after her run as she realized that her plan was coming together. She heads into the short round tonight in the top 15 in the aggregate.
Shad Mayfield, the son of two-time WNFR qualifier Sylvester Mayfield, has steadily been making his own name known in the junior rodeo game. The young Mayfield qualified for the shootout round of Roy Cooper’s Junior NFR world championship and finished as the runner-up; we saw him at RFD-TV’s The American and now at the International Finals Youth Rodeo.

Two seven-second runs were laid out before her, but Kallie Cathcart kept her cool and was able to best her competition in the short round of the 2017 National Little Britches Rodeo Association Finals with her time of 7.11 seconds.

When Vern Nolin raced his way to the Tommy Dorchester $50,000 winner-take-all heat at the 2018 Ponoka Stampede, he was met with fierce competition. The Dewberry, Alberta, driver was new to the WPCA compared to his fellow drivers in the final four heat, and he had his work cut out for him if he wanted to walk away with the check.
He won round one, he won round two, and then Stetson Wright went on to win the short round of the 2017 IFYR with the highest-marked ride of the entire week. Wright’s 84-point ride put his aggregate total at 246 points on three to be the undeniable champion of the saddle bronc riding.
