Five-time Canadian Champion steer wrestler Cody Cassidy admits he was feeling a little jittery when he saw the steer he’d drawn at the 2018 K-Days Rodeo in Edmonton, Alberta. The steer had a tendency to stop, which he explains could either work in your favor if you can get a good head catch, or go very wrong if you cant.
We may get two more chances to watch Scott Schiffner; we may get more. All the winningest bull rider in the history of Canadian rodeo can say is he wants to go out on a good one.

To win a world championship in anything just two years after starting is quite a feat, but what we didn’t know was just how Rylen Sutherland got that start in the steer wrestling. For someone who is so clearly a natural at the event, it may surprise you how, and why, he started competing in the event just two years before winning the 2018 NLBRA world steer wrestling title.
Just two years after he threw his first steer and on his first trip to the finals, Rylen Sutherland has become the 2018 National Little Britches Rodeo Association world champion steer wrestler. Sutherland won the first round and the average on his way to racking up enough points to take home one of the most coveted junior rodeo titles around.
Gavin Soileau came in to the 2018 IFYR short round in the No. 1 spot, and that was there he left. He knew he had a good steer going into the short round and his rapid 4.1 second run easily gave him the win in the aggregate.
For the last two years the name Brooklyn Gunter has topped the results at the IFYR in the pole bending, this year it was little sisters turn to take the lead. Gabby Gunter didn’t expect to win the IFYR, so much so that she didn’t even pack enough jeans to compete in the short go, but after winning both go-rounds and the average, she may be thinking a little differently.

When Nephi, Utah’s Hailey Humphrey was asked what her main event was at the National Little Britches Finals Rodeo, her simple reply was “all of them.” It wasn’t done in a prideful way. She wasn’t cocky; it was just a statement.

They say some horses try hard if they like their rider. That seems to be exactly the case with Greeley Eastep and her horse Harley.

The calm before the storm. That small moment right before you nod your head or enter the arena. Everything goes still for one split second where you decide it’s time to test yourself.
