Kurt Bensmiller Wins Second Consecutive Guy Weadick Days Title
They’ll have to do a little of scraping to get the mud off the wagon, but the Bensmiller crew will be happy with the results of their muddy weekend in High River. WPCA chuckwagon driver Kurt Bensmiller is the champion of Guy Weadick Days for the second year in a row. Bensmiller finished with a time of 5:19.80 on four runs and earned 165 WPCA Pro Tour, presented by GMC points.

Coverchuk Wins Wainwright Stampede With 87 Point Ride On Mish Mash
Cody Coverchuk was the only bull rider to make the eight-second whistle in the bull riding short round. His 87-point score aboard Vold Rodeo’s Mish Mash, coupled with his 86-point score in the long round, gave Coverchuk a total of 173 points on two and the Wainwright Stampede bull riding title.

Solomon Wins Wainwright Stampede Tie-Down Title With 26.6 On Three
Cory Solomon showed his skills on the ground during the short round of the 2018 Wainwright Stampede. Solomon drew one of the faster calves in the herd and, after a late start, had to run his calf a little further. That didn’t stop Solomon from making an 8.9 second run, winning the final round and the average and the title with a time of 26.6 on three.

Just getting to the Wainwright Stampede on top was a momentous task for Zeke Thurston. Shelby Spielman Wins Her First CPRA Event: The Wainwright Stampede
After competing in Casper, Wyoming, at the College National Finals Rodeo, Shelby Spielman headed north to try her hand in the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association. Spielman placed third in the first round with her time of 17.443 before coming back in the short round to make the fastest run of the entire week. At 17.317 seconds, Spielman’s run earned her the Wainwright Stampede championship buckle with a combined time of 34.760.
Clint Laye Rides Mucho Dinero For Wainwright Stampede Victory
The matchup of Clint Laye and Vold Rodeo’s Mucho Dinero was highly anticipated in the short round of the Wainwright Stampede, and for good reason. Laye and Mucho Dinero made an 87.5-point ride to not only win the final round but also win the average and the Wainwright Stampede championship with a total of 172.5 on two.

Dawson Hay Rides Same Horse As Famous Saddle Bronc Riding Father
Dawson Hay is just starting to make his own way in the pro rodeo game, but he has a great support system in the form of his father, 20-time WNFR qualifier and eight-time Canadian Champion saddle bronc rider, Rod Hay. The young Hay has qualified for the short round at Wainwright today and the qualification was made extra-special because he did it aboard a horse that his dad had ridden when he was competing. Smith And Pozzobon Head Into Short Go In Sixth Spot
It wasn’t the prettiest run they’ve ever made, but Kyle Smith and Cole Pozzobon made it by a tough steer in round two to qualify for the short round at the Wainwright Stampede in sixth place. They were 6.1 on their first steer, 11.9 on the second steer, giving them a time of 18.0 on two. The pair are hoping for smooth sailing today during the short round in the hopes success during Wainwright’s “battle for the buckles”.
Jordan Ness Qualifies For Wainwright Short Round With 9.6 On Two
Jordan Ness is a well-accomplished amateur rodeo competitor, but in 2018 he decided to step it up and hit the pro rodeo circuit. Ness saw some success just last weekend at the Innisfail Pro Rodeo, breaking the ice with his first check as a professional. Ness is hoping to continue that streak at the Wainwright Stampede after he qualified for the short round in sixth place, just 0.3 seconds off the leader in the average.

Tyler Johnson Waits To See If He Will Make Wainwright Short-Go
Will Tyler Johnson be heading to High River or staying in Wainwright? The tie-down roper will have to wait until the final performance of the second round tonight to see if he will hang on in the average. Johnson made two good runs and sits in the seventh spot with his time of 20.2 on two head at the Wainwright Stampede.
Joe Guze Makes Smokin' 3.5-Second Run At Wainwright Stampede
After steer wrestler Joe Guze broke out in the first round of the Wainwright Stampede he had one thing on his mind: the second go-round win. The 2017 CFR qualifier laid down a rapid 3.5-second run to go to the lead in the round by half a second. He now has just one more performance to see if he will become the round-two champion.
Blair Smith Is Third In The Average With One Perf To Go At Wainwright
A 9.2 in round one and a 9.4 in round two puts Blair Smith at No. 3 in the average at Wainwright. Coleman Kohorst knows what it’s like to take on the Wainwright Stampede short round, but the 2017 champion is going to have to sweat it out during the final performance tonight to see if he will have the chance to defend his title. Kohorst has a total of 10.2 second between his two runs and currently splits the 8/9/10 spot with Justin Shaffer and Craig Weisgerber.
