Vern Nolin Wins Ponoka Stampede Aggregate Title

WPCA driver Vern Nolin is the 2018 Ponoka Stampede aggregate champion with his time of 5:08.22 on four. After winning the aggregate, Nolin went on to win the fifth night of competition where he and the other top eight drivers raced in two heats to see which four will compete today for the Tommy Dorchester $50,000 winner-take-all race.

Trey Benton III, a four-time WNFR qualifier in the bull riding, took over the round lead at the Ponoka Stampede on the final day of long-round competition. His 88.75 point ride aboard Outlaw Bucker’s 96 Tennessee Whiskey has already earned the cowboy over $4,500, but he can gain a lot more in the finals and showdown today to go to the Canadian and World standings. Brenton is sitting third in the world and is about $35,000 No. 2 and $90,000 behind world leader Sage Kimzey, but he explains that you have to “run your own race”.

Trevor Brazile Heads Into The Ponoka Stampede Finals In Third Place

Trevor Brazile was 18.3 seconds on two runs at the Ponoka Stampede and is heading into the top 12 finals in third place. Brazile was 9.4 seconds in the slack and split seventh place four ways, then came back in the performance with a 8.9 second run to take the 10th place check. Brazile will be back for the Monday finals of the Ponoka Stampede in both the tie-down roping and team roping with partner Patrick Smith.
