Shane Hanchey is on the hunt for for a third Canadian title at the 2018 Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer, Alberta. His 7.8 second time in round one means he’s one step closer to making that a reality, if he can pass leader Riley Warren who also tied his calf in 7.8 in round one.

Zeke Thurston is heading into the 2018 Canadian Finals Rodeo as the No. 2 man, but like all of the competitors in the finals, he wants to leave as No. 1. “That’s one thing I haven’t quite slashed off the bucket list,” said the 2016 World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider about his hunt for the title in his home country. “I’m after it for sure.”

Scott Schiffner - the winningest bull rider in Canadian rodeo history - announced his retirement earlier this year before stringing together some rodeo-winning rides that rocketed the cowboy to his final CFR appearance.

This year, Shayna Weir and her mare Moons Dyna head to their very first Canadian Finals Rodeo. When asked if Weir and her “fire-breathing dragon” are ready for their first kick at the Canadian title, the Ponoka, Alberta, cowgirls simple reply was “definitely”.
